ChudFix Repair Cafe
Repair Cafés are free community events all about repairing things (together). Bring along a broken item from home, and together with a volunteer ‘fixer’ you can start making repairs in the Repair Café. Items to be repaired can include clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera.
Why a Repair Cafe
We throw away vast amounts of stuff every day – even things with almost nothing wrong. People have forgotten that they can repair things themselves or they no longer know how, but a Repair Café can change that. Valuable practical knowledge from our ‘fixers’, is getting passed on. Things are being used for longer and don’t have to be thrown away. This reduces the volume of raw materials and energy needed to make new products. It cuts CO2 emissions, for example, because manufacturing new products and recycling old ones causes CO2 to be released.
Nothing to repair…?
If you have nothing to repair, why not come along and watch whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and homemade cake. Or join us as one of our Volunteers – we always need people to help in the kitchen, meet and greet, or help behind the scenes.
