Thank you Chudleigh:
I’m sure you will recall that the Town Hall was used as a victim reception centre, providing a place of safety for 29 Vietnamese nationals, from the 12th to the 14th of April.
I thought residents would appreciate sight of the letters of thanks from DCC and Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.
“On behalf of Devon County Council I would like to express our thanks to you in arranging for Chudleigh Town Hall to be used as a Victim Reception Centre by the police earlier this month.
The protocols around such incidents have not been fully agreed so when the Emergency Planning team, who work under me, were asked to try and find a suitable location as a favour to the police it helped that you and your colleagues were so obliging and able to accommodate the nearly thirty Vietnamese nationals who had had to be processed over a couple of days. It certainly made a change from the snow events I understand you have been stood up for in the past.
All emergency responders very much appreciate the assistance provided by the residents of Chudleigh who give their time and energy to assist whenever asked.
There will be a debrief around the incident and we once again be singing the praises of Chudleigh and the work you did around this incident. Please pass on our thanks to anyone who assisted.”
Best wishes
