Neighbourhood Development Plan:
The dedicated team of volunteer working on the Neighbourhood Development Plan have now been hard at work for two years. During that time they have organised a couple of public consultations to see what issues were of concern to parishioners and worked with officers at the District Council to ensure that the plan, when completed, will pass inspection by an independent examiner. We have now reached what is called the “Pre-submission consultation”
The pre-submission consultation begins on 21st Jan. and ends at 5pm on 4th March. Every household in the parish will receive a copy of the town council's January newsletter on 21st Jan. (delivered by Royal Mail) which will be the formal notification of the start of the consultation period and will contain details of how to access the Plan and appendices. The newsletter will contain all 16 proposed policies, but not the supporting text. Hard copies of the Plan and the appendices will be available for public inspection at the town hall, the library, the parish church and the TDC offices at Forde House.
This is a key stage in the NDP process as it gives parishioners the opportunity to amend the plan. At the end of the consultation period we will need to meet to consider all comments on the Plan and decide whether, in the light of the comments, any amendments are necessary. We have to produce a schedule of all comments, stating whether they have led to amendments and, if not, why not. Eventually, once we have the amended submission version of the Plan, the formal examination will take place in June/July. When the NDP passes the examination stage there will be a parish poll to give parishioners another opportunity to decide whether the plan is acceptable to them.
