Chudleigh gas pipe upgrade
Dear Cllr. Carlton,
I want to let you know about our essential gas pipe upgrade work in Chudleigh which will make sure that we keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area and so you and your family are safe and warm for generations to come.
Our work will start on 17 June 2019 on Old Exeter Street, Colway Lane, Bottle Bridge Hill and Woodway Street and, barring any engineering difficulties, we expect to be finished by September 2019.
We know our work can be disruptive, so we have worked closely with Devon County Council to keep disruption to a minimum. To keep the local community, road users and our colleagues safe while we are working, there will be phased road closures on Old Exeter Street including the junction of Colway Lane and Bottle Bridge Hill while we are working. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted
Our team will be visiting local businesses to let them know what to expect while we are working. All local businesses will be open as usual and we will accommodate trade deliveries where possible. Our work will be suspended between 15-28 July so the local carnival can go ahead.
This essential gas pipe investment work is part of our multi-million-pound 30 year gas pipe investment programme across the south west of England and Wales. Old metal gas pipes within 30 metres of buildings are being upgraded to new, long lasting plastic ones. We are spending £1.4 million on this programme every week to keep the gas flowing and make sure your gas network is fit for the future.
I hope this letter gives you the information you need on our work, but if you have any further questions, please respond to this email.
I appreciate this work may, at times, be inconvenient, but it really is essential to make sure that we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in your area and you and your family are safe and warm for generations to come.
