NEWS FROM CHUDLEIGH TOWN COUNCIL: NOVEMBER 2020
The Town Council held a virtual meeting on Monday 2 November. At that meeting councillors voted to accept a design and quotation from Forte Trailscapes to construct a pump track at Millstream Meadow. This will be situated between the skate park and the outdoor gym. Pump tracks are for wheeled sports enthusiasts but are very different from skate parks. Skate parks are generally constructed from concrete and are best suited to small wheel users (skate boards, roller blades etc.) The pump track will be constructed from asphalt which better suits large wheel enthusiasts.
Councillors selected Forte Trailscapes because they are a local company, based in Kingsteignton. They build tracks all over the world, including one built at River Dart Country Park. This allowed councillors to see at first hand the quality of the company’s work. It is also reassuring that the owner, Kai Forte, is an ex-professional BMX rider, so he fully understands what users want of a facility.
The new pump track will be paid for from section 106 funding which cannot be used for any other purpose.
