By the time you read this the kitchen attached to the Large Hall will have been replaced. With the completion of this work we will have upgraded the three kitchens over the last two years.
The lighting in the Large Hall has also been replaced. This was necessary because the previous light fittings were so old that it was no longer possible to source fluorescent tubes that fitted them.
We have also replaced the lighting in the school room with new LED fittings. This has markedly improved the light levels in that room.
We are awaiting planning permission to put photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Woodway Room and hope to have them in place by the end of summer
We are also awaiting planning consent to place a defibrillator on the exterior of the Town Hall. All the funding for this is in place so we should be able to move pretty quickly once the consent is granted. It will be situated in the alcove beneath the fire escape. This location was largely determined for us as we needed to keep the defibrillator out of direct sunlight because if the temperature within the case exceeds 50 degrees it can damage the kit.
You will shortly see signage appear in the parking bays on the forecourt that make clear that parking is for town hall users only. This is not meant to discourage our hirers or their customers from parking on the forecourt. It’s aim is to try and reduce the number of cars parked on the forecourt whilst their occupants do their shopping.
