DISTRICT COUNCILLORS REPORT OCTOBER 2016-10-17
October has not been a good month, I have lost my friend and colleague Patricia Johnson-King. Patricia passed away quietly and free of pain at the Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay. Patricia had likened her stay to being in a good five-star hotel with a spa. She spoke highly of the staff who cared for her, saying that they could not do enough to make her comfortable and indulging her immediate needs.
Patricia was a kind gentle person who always saw the best in people, she was devoted to her two daughters and four grandchildren, who were equally devoted to her. Even in the last weeks of life, Patricia continued to boss me around, by asking if I had completed her list of ‘things to do’. Typically, those ‘things to do’, we’re completing donations of nearly a £1000 from her Community fund to four projects that she had promised to support, her fear was, that time would be her worst enemy and that the projects would not receive the promised funds. They did!
I am sure her many friends will have more to say at her memorial service and in the weeks and months to come. For me, I have simply lost a lovely friend who I did not get to share the bottle of Bollinger that we said we would share, whilst talking about the many good times we had.
